About Chosun Art Gallery
조선화랑은 1971년 서울 중구 소공동 조선호텔에서 개관한, 한국에서 가장 오래된 화랑 중 하나입니다. 지난 53년간 젊고 전도유망한 국내외 작가들의 기획전을 약 500여회 개최했습니다.
조선화랑은 1982년부터 수많은 국제 아트 페어에 참가했습니다. 1983년 하인두 작가와 같이 우리 작가들의 해외시장 진출을 위하여 한불미술협회 창립 운영위원으로 한불 미술교류를 주관했으며, 파리의 FIAC, 독일의 ART COLOGNE, 동경의 NICAF, New York Art Fair, Chicago Art Fair, Beijing Art Fair, Shanghai Art Fair, Seatle Art Fair, San Francisco Art Fair, Texas Art Fair 등에 참가하여 한국 미술 작품의 선전과 판매를 해왔습니다. 조선화랑은 2019년에 서울특별시로부터 서울미래유산(2019-013)로 지정되었습니다.
조선화랑 권상능 대표는 한국 미술계와 화랑계의 발전을 위해 평생 노력해 왔고 1976년에 한국화랑협회 설립을 주도하였으며 한국화랑협회 3, 9, 11대 회장을 역임하면서 한국 미술 시장의 기초를 세우는 일에 최선의 노력을 다해 왔습니다.
Chosun Art Gallery was established in 1971 and is one of the oldest galleries in Korea. The gallery has displayed about 500 exhibitions showcasing a range of work from young, up-and-coming artists to more well-known, established artists.
Since 1982, the gallery has participated in various international art fairs including hosting the 1983 Art Vivant, a Paris group of France exhibition in Chosun Art Gallery, FIAC, Art Cologne, NICAF, PIAF, New York Art Fair, Chicago Art Fair, Beijing Art Fair, Shanghai Art Fair, Seatle Art Fair, San Francisco Art Fair, Texas Art Fair, etc. Seoul Metropolitan City designated Chosun Art Gallery as Seoul Future Heritage. Mr. Sang Neung Kwon, the director of Chosun Art Gallery has devoted himself to the development of the Korean arts and galleries. He established the Galleries Association of Korea in 1976 and has served as the 3rd, 9th and 11th chairman of the Associaton. Chosun Art Gallery strives to preserve the craft and distinction of the Korean art, and is privileged to continue to share the skilled artistry of Korean with the world.
